What exactly is mindful running and why would you combine an energetic activity like running with the relaxation of mindfulness?

At first glance, it may seem like these two activities are opposites but they actually aren't. I'm interested in this topic because I often struggle to cope when daily stress is too much and I know a lot of people do as well.
Running can be quite meditative with the repetitive movement and the mind gets clearer. You can add running in nature, listening to relaxing music or nothing at all, breathing techniques etc. to increase the meditative effect of your run.
